Play box is a great little hole in the wall gas station with a restaurant inside of it. The chicken and catfish is delicious. I will say it a little pricey for what you get, but I've never been disappointed.

I visited today for the first time. I assume this is a "Champ's Chicken" franchise location inside a local gas station, given the name Charlie Bob's not being on the packaging for the food or any of the products... As such, this should be the same quality of food you'd expect at any of the Champ's Chicken locations. I've never had it before, so this was an adventure for me... The fuel cost at the location was high for the area. When I visited, it was $3.19, while a station just down the road was $3.03. The food I ordered from Champs Chicken was the 4 pc fried fish (catfish) special, for $15. For $15 I had expected it would come as a meal, but nope - it was 4 pieces of fish in a box. The fish tasted alright, but was extremely salty, which is a shock to me because I am one of those family members which everyone else knows for dumping salting on nearly everything, and is the first one to reach for the salt shaker when eating out anywhere... This fish had the traditional crispy crunchy breadcrumb batter, with a nice flaky hot interior. The food was pretty good, but probably not worth the $15 - Maybe $9.99-11.99, since it came with no drink and no sides. The food was ready pretty fast. The staff were friendly and polite. Since this is essentially a franchise restaurant inside another location, what they have you do is this: They write down your order, they give you the ticket, you walk over to the gas station clerk counter, you hand them the ticket, they ring you up and mark it paid, you take the ticket back over to the Champs counter and hand it back when you get your food. An interesting way to do it for sure, but I can see why they do it like that.

The reviews for this place were accurate, I felt the chicken we got tonight was better than Popeye's and KFC's and was much cheaper to boot. The service was great, the place is very clean and I can't wait to try their breakfast.

After seeing the reviews for Charlie Bob's - and the specific mention of their breakfast sandwiches - I had to visit! I ordered the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese biscuit - with extra cheese - plus an order of hash browns - and a side of Scrapple. I'm not a big Scrapple fan - but one of my good friends is - and so I wanted to be able to report back to him... So you order your food at the back counter, the lady behind the counter hand writes out your order on an old school order pad - you then take your slip of paper to the register - they ring you up, and stamp the hand written order slip - which you then give back to the ladies at the food counter - when you pick up your order. The Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit was outstanding! De-frickin' Delicious! The hash brown was hot and crispy! The Scrapple was not a hit with me - it was very greasy - maybe that is how Scrapple is supposed to be - but since it was not my primary order - and I doubt I would order it again - it's not going to detract from my review score. I will definitely be back for more breakfast sammich goodness - as well as to try out their Biscuits & Sausage Gravy - as well as their Salmon Cakes (Fridays only) and their fried chicken! #CharlieBobsMarketAndDeli

Chicken is flavorful, better than kfc. Personally only have tasted the mashed potatoes/gravy and cream corn (it's good) we always get the #6 and add another piece of chicken for a total of $12.25 including taxes

Great chicken! I had the nuggets and it was real pieces of white meat, not a bunch of mystery meat like most places. Plenty of room to maneuver for gas if you have a large vehicle or are towing a trailer. Drove past it a hundred times but stopped there for the first time yesterday.

I have been searching for salmon cakes and came across Charlie Bobs Market and was surprised when I pulled up that it's in a gas station. I called it in and the food was ready when I got there. You check in at the food counter, pay for your food with the cashier who knows all the regulars and then you take the receipt back to the counter. The service was quick and the food was tasty. I ordered the salmon cake that can either come by itself or you can make it into a platter. I think the salmon cakes may only be available on Friday.
